A family foundation · Inland Empire, California
The Foundation
For over seventy years, the Lewis family has built homes and neighborhoods across Southern California. This foundation exists for what a neighborhood needs beyond its houses.
Established by Randall and Janell Lewis, the foundation continues a philanthropic tradition begun by Ralph and Goldy Lewis in 1955, supporting the institutions, programs, and people that make the Inland Empire a healthier, better-educated, and more creative place to live. We do not accept unsolicited proposals; our giving grows out of long relationships with the communities we know best.
What we care about
“When you are successful in a community, you have an obligation to give back.”Ralph M. Lewis, co-founder, Lewis Homes, 1920–2008

The flagship program
Now in its 16th year, the fellowship places graduate students in public and community health inside the cities and agencies of the Inland Empire, giving emerging leaders real policy work, and giving communities talent they could never otherwise afford.
